  7. NAME
  8.        sweep  -    Geomview external module for creating surfaces of
  9.        extrusion and rotation.

  11. SYNOPSIS
  12.        sweep
  13.  
  14. DESCRIPTION
  15.        Sweep is    a tool used to make  surfaces  of  extrusion  and
  16.        rotation     out of    geomview vect objects.    Sweep is intended
  17.        to run as a geomview external module.  It uses the  target
  18.        object,    which must be a    vect, to create    the surfaces.  To
  19.        create the surface, press the button marked  "Make  Sweep"
  20.        at  the    bottom of the panel.  The program will create the
  21.        surface and automatically send it to  geomview  as  a  new
  22.        object named "sweep."

  24.        The  two    buttons    at the top of the sweep    panel control the
  25.        type of sweep.  If the button marked "Translational Sweep"
  26.        is  pressed, the    target object will be used to make a sur-
  27.        face of extrusion.  The fields marked  "Length  of  sweep"
  28.        and   "Direction      of  sweep"  are  used     to  control  the
  29.        attributes of the surface.

  31.        If the button at    the top    of the panel  marked  "Rotational
  32.        Sweep"  is pressed, the surface formed will be the surface
  33.        of the rotation of the vect.  The box in    the middle of the
  34.        panel  will  be    replaced  by  a    box with controls for the
  35.        attributes of the surface  of  rotation.      Note    that  the
  36.        sweep  may  be  of an arbitrary length around an    arbitrary
  37.        vector.    The field marked "Arc length" controls the length
  38.        of  the    sweep  in  degrees or radians.    The fields marked
  39.        "End of axis" and "Direction axis" are used to specify the
  40.        axis  around  which  the     vect will be rotated.    The field
  41.        marked "Divisions" is used to specify the number    of pieces
  42.        into  which  the    sweep will be radially divided.     A higher
  43.        number will give    a smoother appearance.
